Security Awareness
With the rise of viruses, SPAM, and Spyware, it is of the utmost importance that you are vigilant when using your computer. If your computer is infected with a virus it is possible that your computer will have to be rebuilt, a process that can keep you from working for a day or more, or that your network line will be disabled.
The Help Desk does everything possible to keep your computer free from malicious intent, but we need your help.
Stay Safe – Keep the following rules in mind.
Keep your password to yourself
Don’t open suspicious e-mail messages with strange subject lines or attachments, even if it is from someone you know.
Use caution when surfing the web. Only visit known, respected web sites. Stay away from disreputable web sites
Do not download anything from the internet. This includes pictures, games, greeting cards, etc.
If a website you are visiting asks you to download or install anything, choose "NO". Check with the Service Desk if you think it is something you really need.
